今年的年度单词竟然是它[笑cry]

2015年接近尾声，又到了一年一度的《牛津英语词典》年度词汇评选时间了。万万没想到，今年的年度词汇竟然是它！

对，就是这个表情。

面对众多强有力竞争者，“Face with Tears of Joy”（笑cry）脱颖而出，当选今年的《牛津英语词典》年度词汇。

Emojis have been around since the late 1990s, but 2015 saw their use, and use of the word emoji, increase hugely.

易牟姬早在上世纪90年代就已经出现了，但是2015年，它的使用激增。

This year, Oxford University Press have partnered with leading mobile technology business SwiftKey to explore frequency and usage statistics for some of the most popular emojis across the world, and Face with Tears of Joy was chosen because it was the most used emoji globally in 2015.

今年牛蹄筋大学出版社和SwiftKey公司联合对最受欢迎的表情进行使用分析发现，【笑cry】是2015年全球使用率最高的表情。

评委会选择这个[笑cry]的表情也是有一定道理的。据统计，2015年在英国和美国【笑cry】的使用率分别达到20%和17%，而在2014年，在英国的使用率才只有4%，这个增长速度确实很惊人。而根据数据显示易牟姬表情的使用率也在今年翻了3倍。

今年落选的年度单词还有这些：

ad blocker, noun，广告屏蔽: A piece of software designed to prevent advertisements from appearing on a web page.

Brexit, noun，英国退出欧盟: A term for the potential or hypothetical departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union, from British + exit.

Dark Web, noun， 暗网: The part of the World Wide Web that is only accessible by means of special software, allowing users and website operators to remain anonymous or untraceable.

on fleek, adjectival phrase，完美！: Extremely good, attractive, or stylish.

lumbersexual, noun，森男: A young urban man who cultivates an appearance and style of dress (typified by a beard and check shirt) suggestive of a rugged outdoor lifestyle.

refugee, noun，难民: A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.

sharing economy, noun，分享型经济: An economic system in which assets or services are shared between private individuals, either for free or for a fee, typically by means of the Internet.

they (singular), pronoun，指代不确定性别的一类人: Used to refer to a person of unspecified sex.

对手强劲，【笑cry】还是笑到了最后，不过堂堂一个牛津大学出版社搞出一个non-word emoji作为年度单词，是不是有点奇怪呢？

对此官方的解释是：

Every year, candidates for Word of the Year are debated and one is eventually chosen that is judged to reflect the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of that particular year and to have lasting potential as a word of cultural significance.

每一年，年度单词的候选都颇具争议。最终当选的一定是可以反映当年的精神气和情绪或者带有某些主观元素，但很有文化意义的单词。

This year, instead of choosing a traditional word or expression, Oxford Dictionaries has chosen an example of this type of pictographic script to represent the sharp increase in popularity of emojis across the world in 2015.

今年，我们没有选择一个传统的单词或表达方式，而是选择了一个表情来代表2015年在全世界都开始流行的趋势。

官方表示，虽然入选了年度词汇，但是并不代表这个词或者表情会被收入词典，所以小伙伴们想在词典里找到这个词还有难度。
